What's the difference between Photo Books & Photo Albums?

Before you get started, it's important to ensure you're creating the right format for your moments. Discover the difference between Photo Books & Albums below.

Photo Books:

Page type: 
Classic and Premium Photo Books: Art paper with flexible pages 

Page count: 
Classic Photo Books: 24–200 pages
Premium Photo Books: 24–300 pages 

Binding:
Classic Photo Books: PUR bound. Pages bow slightly at the centre
Premium Photo Books: Section sewn. Pages open to lie near flat 

Paper options:
Classic Photo Books: Choose from 2 paper options
Premium Photo Books: Choose from 4 paper options 

Cover fabric: 
Classic Photo Books: Linen only
Premium Photo Books: Linen, Coated Cloth (Buckram), or optional Vegan Leather upgrade available* 

Spine Thickness: Classic and Premium Photo Books: 9.5mm – 38mm. See our spine width article for your specific page count thickness here.

Photo Albums:

Page type:
Classic and Premium Photo Albums: Board pages with a stiff, inflexible construction (approximately 1mm thick overall). Your photos are printed on your selected paper and mounted onto the board to create the signature lay-flat finish
Premium Photo Albums: Available with a choice of white or black board 

Page count: 
Classic and Premium Photo Albums: 24–80 pages**

Binding:
Classic and Premium Photo Albums: Lay-flat, flush-mounted binding. Pages open to lie perfectly flat 

Paper options:
Classic Photo Albums: 1 paper option
Premium Photo Albums: Choose from 2 paper options 

Cover materials:
Classic Photo Albums: Linen only
Premium Photo Albums: Linen, Coated Cloth (Buckram), or optional Milano Leather upgrade available* 

Spine Thickness: Classic and Premium Photo Albums: 21–47mm, depending on page count. See our spine width article for your specific page count thickness here.

*The coated cloth (buckram) and Leather/Vegan Leather upgrades are available for the Premium range only.

**Please note, for albums over 46 pages we will use a marginally thinner board (0.88-0.98mm) to accommodate the higher page count.

Both Photo Books and Photo Albums can have a Presentation Box. However, Presentation Boxes are not available for Small Classic Photo Books.
