What Techniques Do We Use To Bind Our Photo Books & Albums?

Depending on the format you've chosen to create, your book will be bound using one of three techniques - centre-stitched, PUR or flush-mounted.

The MILK Classic Photo Book Range and MILK Wedding Magazines are (PUR) or perfect bound. The pages are glued together at the spine. Polyurethane Reactive (PUR) adhesive is durable, flexible and withstands a wider range of temperatures (-40 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit), so it performs better than many other glue options available. Due to the way these books are bound, details placed where the pages meet will be lost, so we recommend placing focal details such as faces away from this area.

The MILK Premium Photo Book Range, are bound via center-stitch which results in pages that can be opened right to the center, however the pages will not lie completely flat. It is expected that some of the thread will be visible on some pages, so we recommend avoiding placing focal features such as faces where the pages meet.

The MOLESKINE + MILK range are center-stitched, just like the original Moleskine notebooks. As these books are also center-stitched, some of the thread will be visible on some pages, so we recommend avoiding placing focal features such as faces where the pages meet.

MILK Classic and Premium Albums and MILK Wedding Guest Books have board pages that are flush-mounted resulting in pages that open perfectly flat.
