MILK Books is a NZ-based company. We are required to charge any NZ-based customers GST (whether you are purchasing a Pre-Purchase Voucher or a product).
Due to Australian GST import laws, we are also required to charge Australian-based customers GST (whether you are purchasing a Pre-Purchase Voucher or a product).
For both, the added cost will be displayed at checkout as VAT. However for Australian customers with an order value of over $1000 AUD (incl. shipping), GST will be charged at the border upon the order reaching Australia along with other fees charged by Australian Customs.
These other fees include an Import Processing charge (electronic lodgment) and a Biosecurity charge (air shipment). The Import Processing charge is $50 AUD and the Biosecurity charge is $45 AUD. You can see more about these charges via the links above.
Please note that for orders over $1000 AUD, Australian Customs also charges a 5% import duty on the value of the goods being imported. In additional, DHL will levy a processing charge to cover the cost of processing your order through customs.
