The MILK Books Website Vs The MILK Books Photo App Extension - Which One Is Better For Me?

We have two platforms where you can create your Photo Books and Photo Albums. So which one is better for you?

We've created a brief breakdown of the differences between the MILK Books website and the MILK Books Photo App extension to help you decide which is the right one for you.

The MILK Books Website:

Projects created via the MILK Books website are stored on our server and are tied to your account. This means that you can access them from any device so long as you can sign into your account. To prevent our server from being filled with abandoned projects, if your project has not yet been printed it will be deleted after 90 days of inactivity. You can see more about our storage policy here.

You will need to have a stable internet connection while designing your projects as the website only works online. If you would like to make any adjustments to the layouts available, you are able to use the Free Transform Tool in the Design Studio to make changes. Once you are ready to place your order, you can request a PDF proof of your order to do a final check of your project.

You can checkout in the website in several different currencies. The currencies that are currently available are AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, HKD, NZD, and USD. Our entire product range is available on the website and you can order multiple different projects in one order.

The MILK Books Photo App Extension For Mac:

The MILK Books Photo App extension is available for Mac users and can be downloaded from the Mac App store. This enables you to create directly from within the Photo App.

Projects that are created via the Photo App extension are stored directly on your Mac. This means that you will need to create your whole project and order it on your Mac. However, this has the added functionality of being able to design offline - perfect for people on the go who will not always have access to an internet connection. There is no need to upload your photos to design your project as you can add them into your project from the Photos App directly.

The designing process on the Photo App extension is mostly the same as the website. However, the Free Transform Tool is not available, nor is the PDF proof. Most of our products can be created via the Photo App extension, but some (such as the Wedding Magazine) are currently only available on the website.

From your project, you can proceed directly to the checkout so there is no need to add it to your basket as you have to do on the website. However, this means that only one project can be ordered per transaction although you can order additional identical copies.

You can also checkout in AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, HKD, NZD, and USD in the Photos App extension. If you would like to change the currency that you are checking out in on the Photos App extension, you can see how to do so here.

Ultimately, the choice of which platform is better for you is down to which one you prefer working on and suits your needs better. You can switch between the two platforms at any time but please note that projects will have to be recreated manually on each platform.
